Snow Day

Sunday, February 1, 2015

Snow began to fall last night as my friend and I stepped off the brown line. The flakes were big and wet -- a sure sign that the blizzard prediction would come true. We put our hoods up and hurried down the sidewalk, en route to a party in the Southport Corridor.

By the time we left to go home a few hours later, the streets were quiet, covered in white. I felt childlike excitement. In the morning, there might be more.

And there was more. I woke up to a beautiful sight.

My typical Sunday is a hectic blur of church, an open house, errands and a few hours at my yoga studio. Today was different. Snowed in, I let myself rest.

The snow is still coming down, and I've heard snow-blowers roaring since noon. Normal life will resume tomorrow, but until then, I want to stretch this snow day out as long as I can. Another cup of tea for me.
